it is water. The total area is 0.21% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 45,932 people, 18,375 households, and 12,862
families residing in the county. The population density is 27/km˛ (70/mi˛). There are 22,104
housing units at an average density of 13/km˛ (34/mi˛). The racial makeup of
the county is 98.97% White, 0.13% Black or African American, 0.16% Native American, 0.21% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.07% from other races, and 0.45% from two or more races. 0.41% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 18,375 households out of which 30.30% have children under the age
of 18 living with them, 56.80% are married couples living together, 9.10% have a female householder
with no husband present, and 30.00% are non-families. 26.60% of all households
are made up of individuals and 13.80% have someone living alone who is 65 years
of age or older. The average household size is 2.45 and the average family size
is 2.96.
