County Sheriff's Office Explorer Program

cooperative venture between the Jefferson County Sheriff's
Office and
the Boy Scouts of America

The Explorer
Program is designed to give students ages 15 1/2 to 21 an
opportunity to observe the criminal justice system and assist
them in making an informed career decision. Explorers provide
non-enforcement assistance to the Sheriff's Office and serve
their community through a wide variety of functions.
Application
Criteria
The Jefferson
County Explorer Post is open to both boys and girls. Any person
who desires to participate as an Explorer must meet the following
criteria:
- Be
between 15 1/2 and 21 years of age;
- Be
enrolled in or have graduated from high school or college
and have a minimum of 2.0 grade point average;
- Be
of good moral character and of temperate and industrious
habits;
- Maintain
a good motor vehicle driving record (if applicable)

Applicants
are expected to have not been involved in any criminal activity.
The decision to allow an applicant to participate in the Exploring
Program who has been involved in criminal activity shall rest
with the Exploring Advisor and the Sheriff.
