The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is located at the Justice Center, 79 Elkins Road, Port Hadlock, Washington (360) 385-3831 (FAX 360-379-0521). The Sheriff's Office also maintains an office at the Courthouse in Port Townsend, a substation in Clearwater, and an annex in Quilcene.

• All letters and correspondence for inmates must be sent through the United States Postal Service.
• Full name and return address must be on envelope or mail will not be delivered to the inmate.
• Certified or Registered mail will not be delivered to or from the Post Office by jail staff.
• No incoming publications, packages, books, or magazines will be accepted unless pre-approved in writing by Corrections Sergeant.
• Monetary funds for inmates must be mailed as a money order or cashier's check - do not send cash or personal checks.
  

Mail will be returned to sender if it contains any of the following:

• Polaroid type pictures.
• Pictures or drawings of nude, obscene, or sexually explicit material.
• Stamps, stationery, or envelopes.
• Magazines, newspapers, soft cover books, and similar items which are not sent directly from the publisher and pre-approved in writing by Corrections Sergeant.
• Hardbound books.
• Padded, musical, electronic, or laminated greeting cards.
• Non-paper material, including corrugated cardboard.
• Food or clothing items.
• Foreign/unidentifiable substances.
• Threats of physical harm against a person, blackmail, extortion, or any other criminal activity.
• Plans to escape, or depictions or description of blueprints or operational details on an institutions security.
• Material that threatens or is detrimental to the security, safe operation, or discipline of the facility.
• Plans which indicate criminal activity or violation of jail rules.
• Correspondence that is in code.
• Gang related material.
• Mail from another Penal Institution.
• Mail that violates a No Contact order, Protection Order, or any other court order prohibiting communication with an inmate.
  
  

The Jefferson County Correction Facility offers phone access to each inmate in virtually every cellblock. Inmates are encouraged to use the phones to contact friends, family, attorney, etc.

All outgoing calls from the cellblocks are collect.

ACCEPTING AN INCOMING CALL FROM AN INMATE

• Your phone line must be able to accept collect calls via your phone company.
• Follow the instructions given by the operator.
• Collect calls will be billed to your account as stated.

BLOCKING CALLS FROM INMATES

• Call (360) 385-3831 ext.549 to block your phone number from jail inmate phone calls.

REMOVING A BLOCK FROM A PHONE NUMBER

• Come to the Jefferson County Jail with valid photo identification and a recent phone bill with the phone number on it and your name as the primary.
• We will not remove blocks without id and proof of ownership of the phone number.

The Jefferson County Jail provides for incarceration of persons pre-trial and post-trial. We also offer alternatives to jail incarceration. The programs offered are a work release program and a work crew program.

VISITING HOURS

Sundays:  

• Female Inmates: 1 PM - 2 PM
• Male Inmates: 2 PM - 4 PM 

Wednesdays:  

• Female Inmates:  6 PM - 7 PM
• Male Inmates:  7 PM - 9 PM

VISITS

• You must bring picture ID to visit.
• NO ID - NO VISIT.
• You must arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled visit.
• Visitation scheduling is done on a first come first serve basis. Inmates receive only 1 visit per day.
• Minors are allowed to visit as long as they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

RULES FOR VISITORS

• Visiting privileges may be suspended for reasons of security and safety, bad conduct or other reasons set out below.
• All inmates will have their living area clean and will be fully dressed before being allowed to visit.
• Staff will inspect living areas for cleanliness. Inmates in disciplinary segregation and/or cell/mattress restriction will not be allowed to visit with family or friends.
• If an inmate is re-housed for classification reasons due to behavior, safety or security reasons, visiting will be cancelled for that particular week.
• Visitation is on a first come, first served basis. There are 12 slots per hour.
• Visitors must be attired properly to enter the jail; tank tops, short-shorts, and short revealing skirts will not be allowed.
• Inmates will remain in their assigned seating while visiting.
• Swearing, horseplay, loud conduct, or any other disruptive behavior will result in the termination of your visit.
• You will be required to leave the visiting area promptly at the end of your visiting period. Failure to leave promptly may result in loss of future visits.
• If a visitor who is signed up to see an inmate is denied access to the visiting area for any reason, the inmate will be notified of the visitor’s name and the reason for denial.
• Letters, messages or correspondence of any type will not be delivered to visitors through reception. Exceptions are for releasing excess property.
• Visitors may only leave money on the books for the inmate they visit.
