Man arrested as result of assault during Little League baseball game
April 28, 2012 by Capt. Ben Stamper (360) 344-9765
On April 27, 2012 at about 7:44 P.M., Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Deputies received a report of an altercation during a Little League baseball game at Deema Smakman Field in Quilcene. Deputies learned from several witnesses that a male subject had been using loud and profane language when a 64 year old Quilcene man had asked him to watch his language in front of children. The suspect walked to his car and appeared to be leaving, but returned and produced a handgun which he pointed directly at the face of the Quilcene man while stating that he would kill him. Witnesses said that the gun was also pointed in the direction of the bleachers which were occupied by spectators and children. The suspect did not fire and soon departed in a vehicle.
At about 8:30 P.M., Deputies located the suspect at his Brinnon home and placed him under arrest without further incident. Deputies also recovered a .32 ACP caliber handgun.
Steven L. Dixon, age 58 was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on charges of Assault first degree, Reckless Endangerment and Harassment (Threats). Dixon told Deputies that he had felt threatened by the Quilcene man.
