by Captain Ben Stamper 360-344-9765

On August 09, 2011 at about 9:00 PM, Jefferson County Sheriff's Deputy David Thomas recieved a tip that a man meeting the appearance of Olympic Corrections Center escapee Darby Maguire had just been observed coming out of a wooded area near the Queets-Clearwater School on SR 101 near mile 146. Deputy Thomas responded to the area with Lt. Potter of the Quinault Police Department and they took the 27 year old Maguire into custody without incident. Maguire was still wearing his prison issued clothing, and was cold, hungry and covered in superficial scrathes from travelling through the woods. Maguire had last been seen at the prison on August 06. No evidence that Maguire received any assistance in his escape was found. He was transported back to the Olympic Corrections Center and reports will be submitted to the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney recomending that Maguire is charged with escape 1.
