Pet
Memorial Garden
The Bulis
Pet Memorial Garden serves as a peaceful resting place for
you to spread the ashes of your beloved pet. The Garden is
located on Old Fort Townsend Road near Highway 20. It is a
natural forested setting with a circular wheelchair accessible
trail, benches, native plantings and small parking area.
The Pet
Memorial Garden is part of the larger Bulis Forest Preserve,
a sanctuary adjacent to Old Fort Townsend State Park. Mrs.
Erika Bulis donated the 135 acre forest to Jefferson Land
Trust in 1996 in memory of her husband Janis Bulis. An important
refuge to wildlife, the Preserve will be kept in its natural
state in perpetuity, with the exception of the Pet Memorial
Garden and a 28 acre selective, sustainable managed forest.
The Pet
Memorial Garden was the vision of Mrs. Bulis, an ardent lover
of dogs. It emphasizes the natural beauty of our native forests
and is meant to be preserved in its natural state unfettered
by markers or gravestones. If you wish to memorialize your
pet please contact Jefferson Land Trust for information on
options.
The Bulis
Forest Preserve and Pet Memorial Garden are stewarded by dedicated
JLT volunteers. If you would like to join us in our efforts
to maintain and enhance this special place, please contact
Jefferson Land Trust at 360.379.9501.
