Prosecutor

The statutory duties of the elected prosecutor can be found at Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 36.27.020 and may be summarized by stating the Prosecutor's Office represents the State of Washington in all felony, gross misdemeanor and misdemeanor prosecutions which occur outside of municipal or federal jurisdiction, juvenile offender prosecutions, provides civil legal advice to all county offices and departments, and represents the interests of the State in enforcing child support obligations.

Drug & Crime Victims Funds


The Prosecutor's Office also administers the County Drug Fund, which provides support and training for law enforcement, and the Crime Victims Fund, which provides support for victims of crime. Both the Drug Fund and Crime Victims Fund are funded by assessments against convicted offenders.

Victim-Witness Advocate


The Prosecutor's Office has a contract Victim-Witness Advocate to assist victims of crime during the pendency of a criminal prosecution and to act as liaison with other groups providing victim services such as domestic violence agencies. The office also has a contract with the Domestic Violence-Sexual Assault Program of Jefferson County to provide services in District Court to victims of domestic violence assault.
