FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Property
Auction Services
August 5, 2004
The
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has announced that they
have partnered with the “Property Bureau” Auction
Services. The Property Bureau is the leading Internet Auction
Services Company serving law enforcement in the United States.
They sell miscellaneous items (tools, cameras, camping gear, televisions,
cameras, books and jewelry) that have been consigned by various
law enforcement agencies. Auctions are conducted on the Internet.
Interested persons may view the items and submit their bids by
logging onto www.propertyroom.com.
In addition to the auction site at www.propertyroom.com, they maintain the only nationwide registry available to the general public for recovering lost or stolen goods. They record the serial number of each item that they receive and check those numbers against their national registry. If there is a match, they will contact the owner and return the item. To register your lost or stolen items, visit www.stealitback.com.
There
are over 50 Washington law enforcement agencies that utilize the
program. Some of the counties are Clallam, Clark, Cowlitz, King
County, Pierce, Skagit and Yakima. In addition to Port Townsend,
some of the cities are Aberdeen, Bellevue, Des Moines, Edmonds,
Ellensburg, Issaquah, Mercer Island, Sequim, and Wenatchee.
Property
Bureau is a member of the International Association of Chief of
Police, the National Sheriffs’ Association, and the International
Association for Property and Evidence.
