Marijuana
Eradication
September 12, 2003
Investigators from the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team and Jefferson County Deputies eradicated numerous marijuana plants from a location just south of Quilcene on Friday.
Over 40 plants, ranging in height from 6 to 8 feet were discovered earlier in the week while investigators were following up on an unrelated investigation. The plants were well tended and quite healthy. Investigators obtained a search warrant for the remote forested area where the plants were discovered. During the execution of the warrant, several items were recovered that will help in identifying suspects.
Detectives are following up on several leads in this case.
Illegal marijuana gardens such as this are often found in remote, unpopulated areas this time of year. Citizens wishing to report such marijuana gardens can do so by calling the Jefferson County Sheriffs Department.
