Drug Arrests
September 11, 2003

Four persons were arrested in Quilcene today, following the execution of a search warrant. Officers and detectives from Washington State Patrol, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team served the warrants at dawn at a residence at 293367 Highway 101.

Agents of OPNET developed information that a possible methamphetamine lab existed at the residence or on the property at that location. On their arrival, officers located numerous persons living on the property as well as items connected with the manufacturing of methamphetamine and methamphetamine in its finished form. Bruce Bratton, 52, Jeffrey Lynn Hanson 48, and Geraldine Castaneda 37, were arrested for possession of methamphetamine and manufacturing of methamphetamine and booked in the Jefferson County Corrections Facility. They await formal charging by the Jefferson County Prosecutor. A fourth person, Pamela Bertelson aka Kennedy 40, was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant.

Agents also executed a second warrant south of Quilcene related to this investigation, but no arrests were made at that location.

These arrests mark the first case involving the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team in Jefferson County since the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office joined up as participant in the multi-jurisdictional drug task force. OPNET and Jefferson County Detectives and Deputies will continue to work together to investigate drug offenses occurring in the Jefferson County area.
