FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
"Juveniles
& Drugs" Publication Available
August 4, 2003
The Office of National Drug Control Policy has announced the availability of "Juveniles and Drugs." Prepared by ONDCP's Drug Policy Information Clearinghouse, this eight-page Fact Sheet summarizes current information on juveniles and illicit drugs. Topics include prevalence estimates on drug use, drugs and school, consequences of use, juveniles and drug-related crime, and drug treatment programs.
The use of drugs by youth can have harmful effects on their health, behavior, and development. In addition to harming users, juvenile drug use affects families, friends, schools, and society as a whole. As this Fact Sheet concludes, the establishment and enhancement of prevention and treatment programs are essential to the reduction of youth drug use.
