wide & Jefferson County Crime Statistics
June 9, 2003
The Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs (WASPC) have released crime statistics for Washington State and local jurisdictions for calendar year 2002. They have also provided comparisons of the year 2001 with 2002. Statewide Part 1 Crimes show an overall decrease of 0.0001% - Violent Crime totals showed a 1.7% decrease statewide and Property Crime totals showed a 3.5% increase statewide.
Jefferson County, on the other hand, has shown an overall decrease of 7.7% - In the area of Violent Crime, our decrease was 35.9%, and in Property Crimes our decrease was 5.3% - All categories for Jefferson County are shown below. Although the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is most gratified at the overall decline in serious crime, community members should be cautioned not to draw overly broad conclusions based on the relative small numbers.
