CITIZENS’ FIREARM
SAFETY CLASS SET FOR MAY 31
The Port Townsend Police Department
and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s
Department encourage safe, responsible gun ownership for those who choose
to carry and/or keep firearms in their homes. In an effort to promote safe
gun handling, the two agencies will be co-hosting a free firearms safety
class for local citizens on Saturday, May 31, 2003 from 9am-1pm at the Pope
Marine Building in Port Townsend. This class is designed to teach citizens
about basic gun safety, concealed carry laws, what ammunition really does,
and will discuss armed citizen interaction with law enforcement.
If you would like to be a safer,
better-informed gun owner, this class is for you. Additionally, if you
have questions about the legal parameters of
gun ownership or use of force, this will provide an excellent opportunity
to discuss these issues with a knowledgeable professional. This is a classroom
course – no shooting instruction will be offered.
Classroom
size is limited, so pre-registration is required. Reservations can be made
by calling Lyn at the Port Townsend Police Department at 385-2322.
