Free Child Car Seat Inspection Scheduled in Chimacum on May 2nd
A startling 90 to 95% of child car seats could be installed and used in
a safer manner according to surveys done by the Washington Safety Restraint
Coalition and Safe Kids Coalitions. The safe use of child car seats is NOT
a simple matter. In fact, it is complicated and successful completion of
a 32-hour NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Adiminstration) standardized
course is required for CPS technician certification.
A free inspection is scheduled at Templeton's Chevron station in Chimacum
on Friday, May 2nd from 2 PM to 4 PM. Each car seat inspection takes approximately
30 minutes, and it is best if the child is present. Child car seats and booster
seats will be available on a donation basis for those who cannot afford the
full price. All inspections are signed off by technicians certified by the
NHTSA. This FREE child car seat clinic is sponsored by the Jefferson County
Sheriff's Office.
