Sheriff
Brasfield testifies in support of non-partisan sheriff elections

Jefferson
County Sheriff Mike Brasfield testified in Olympia on Wednesday,
February 5th, in support of Senate
Bill 5411. This proposed legislation would place sheriffs
into non-partisan status for elections, similar to judicial races.
The Washington
Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs, and the Washington
State Sheriffs Association support the proposed legislation.
Senators
Rasmussen; Hale; Brandland; Haugen; Reardon; Kline; Prentice;
Regala; McCaslin; Carlson; Winsley; Schmidt jointly sponsor the
bill.
The
official title of the proposed act is: “An act relating
to nonpartisan sheriffs, amending RCW 29.18.010, 29.21.010, 29.21.015,
29.21.070, and 29.30.025; and adding a new section to chapter
36.28 RCW”
