The
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Port Townsend Police
Department, are now soliciting applications for the 5th annual Citizens
Police Academy.
The Citizens Academy
is open to anyone 16 years of age and older who are interested in
learning more about law enforcement, and particularly about the
agencies in our community. The Academy classes are designed to familiarize
citizens with the training and equipment utilized by our police
officers and deputies, as well as the services provided by the other
law and justice agencies throughout our community.
Classes include: drug
investigations, traffic enforcement, dealing with domestic violence,
criminal law and procedures, the K-9 program and much more.
All classes are taught
by local law enforcement officers, judges, prosecutors, probation
staff and other social service professionals who work within the
justice system, providing up to date information on their areas
of expertise and how they interact with and impact the community.
Attendees are under no obligation to become part of the Police Volunteer
Program, but are eligible to apply to the program upon graduation.
There is no cost for participation.
The 2003 Citizens Police
